  • Referee: Tommy Reid

"Broomhall junior lightweight Augie Pantellas fought former featherweight world champion Bobby Chacon Wednesday night at the Philadelphia Spectrum. If Pantellas' courage could have been translated into body language, he would have won. Unfortunately, at 1:52 of the 7th round, Pantellas' manager Marty Feldman wisely threw in the towel to stop the fight. By the 2nd round, Pantellas' eye was cut and his white boxing shorts were stained with blood. Chacon, from California's San Fernando Valley, was in charge from the beginning. Stabbing Pantellas with lead rights. The beginning of the end began in the 6th round when Augie was decked twice. At 2:50 he was hurt again. His legs turned to rubber but he managed to stay up until the bell. Pantellas suffered a two-inch cut over his left eye. His upper lip was blown out of proportion, also from an inside cut. Both cheeks were puffy and his body was covered with red bruises. Ringside cards had Chacon the winner of every round." -Delaware County Daily Times
