"Though exhausted from a serious head cold, No. 6 ranked featherweight Bobby Chacon scored a 10th round knockout over Jorge Ramos Friday night at the San Diego Coliseum. Chacon, 127 1/2, Los Angeles, scored repeatedly with combinations before the bout was halted with only seven seconds remaining. Chacon decked Ramos in rounds one and three, but said he tired in the 5th and had to pace himself thereafter. Ramos proved to be a gutty fighter after the early licking he took from Chacon and the crowd of 2,316 protested the halting of the bout at 2:23 of the 10th round with a 10-minute chorus of boos. The best round for Ramos, 130, San Jose, Calif., was the 2nd when he cornered Chacon and stung him with free-swinging combinations." -United Press International
