Coolidge moved to Omaha and later to Minneapolis where he started boxing at the Police Athletic Gym at 25th and Cedar in South Minneapolis. He worked with pros Rick Folstad, Mike Gephart, along with brothers Glenn and Mike Morgan. He was a five time Minneapolis Golden Gloves champion. Coolidge is currently at corrections officer in Minnesota.
