"World middleweight champion Carl (Bobo) Olson, who likes to keep in shape by engaging in regular non-title fights, today finds he is rapidly running out of opponents. Olson has devastated four good men in recent tuneups including Garth Panter last night in Richmond Auditorium. Olson butchered his Salt Lake City foe in a fast action bout that lasted 41 seconds into the 8th round before referee Joe Louis called a halt to the proceedings as Panter was bleeding profusely from cuts under his left eye and on his right cheek. The champ utilized a stinging left jab and clubbing right chop that found their marks repeatedly. When Louis stopped the bout, Panter was a wobbly, bleeding and hopelessly outclassed fighter." -Hayward Daily Review
- The report stated that Joey Giardello was lined up to be Olson's next defense, however, Olson defended his title in December against Pierre Langlois.
