Boualem Belouard came to France as an immigrant in 1958. He fought for 20 years, retiring in 1978 at the age of 43 with a record of 27 wins, 40 losses and 14 draws. He lived in Germany during his career, met a dozen of European Champions at their peak, including 10 rounds with later World Featherweight Champion Howard Winstone in Nottingham.
He was in Scandinavian rings 12 times, including 4 fights in Oslo. Norwegian managers Leif Hansen and John W. Wiksen used to take visiting fighters on an Oslo sight seeing the day of the fight. They particulary remember Belouard as a keen tourist who was curious about new cities and countries.
Belouard had acrobatic skills. He could dive from 10 meter heights, he impressed reporters in Oslo with triple somersaults on the floor as a part of the training routine.
