Brian London 210 lbs lost to Dick Richardson 204 lbs by RTD in round 8 of 15
- Date: 1960-08-29
- Location: Coney Beach Arena, Porthcawl, Wales, United Kingdom
- Referee: Andrew Smyth
"Dick Richardson of Wales, European heavyweight champion, retained his title Tuesday night by stopping Brian London of Britain in the 8th round. London was forced to quit because of a cut eye. London, former British champion, had had the better of a rugged fight which was fast turning into a brawl. In the 8th round the boxers shouted angrily at each other and referee Andrew Smythe pulled them apart and gave London a stern lecture. Earlier he had warned Richardson to keep his head up. There was a fantastic scene when the referee raised Richardson's hand in victory. The two boxers, their seconds and a bunch of fans got involved in a brawl in the ring. When order was restored London said the brawl started when he tried to shake hands with Richardson." - Associated Press
Post fight comment: "I was going over to shake hands when a little fellow said something to me and came at me. I didn't mind Richardson having a go at me, but I'm not standing for the little fellow." - Brian London
