  • Location: The Stadium, Liverpool, Merseyside, United Kingdom
  • Referee: George Smith

"Brian London, the former British heavyweight champion, knocked out Roger Rischer of Oakland, Calif., in 52 seconds of the 1st round of a 10-rounder at Liverpool Stadium Monday night. London, ranked 7th by the WBA, was a slight favorite over the 8th ranked American. But no one thought he would be able to win so quickly over the Californian. Rischer was dropped twice before he went down for the 3rd time and was counted out. London went for the kill at the bell and had the American down on his knees with a good left. Rischer hauled himself up on the ropes only to have London move in again. As the crowd roared Rischer went down again. Rischer got up at eight but London was on him again like lightning and folded up Rischer in a corner to be counted out." -Associated Press
