In November 2020 Tris Dixon interviewed Brian Schumacher in his podcast series 'Boxing Life Stories'. Brian served in the Royal Navy as a mine clearance diver and he served in the Falklands. He boxed for the Royal Navy. Brian mentioned he has served almost 23 years in prison. He was jailed for killing his mothers partner which he was originally given a 15 year sentence that was reduced to 13 years, however he was recalled to prison for bad behaviour so has served longer. He said he was close to his victim and didn't mean to kill him, it was an accident and contrary to online rumours he never punched him.
Schumacher represented Great Britain as a Middleweight at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games. His results were:
