Angel is a four-time national amateur champion from Puerto Rico. His amateur career also took him to the 2000 Eastern Olympic Trials. Thus far he has had a solid professional career, his only two defeats have come against top notch fighters such as undefeated prospect Daniel Maldonado and tough veteran Pasqual Rouse. In October, Torres turned in one of the finest performances of his career when he scored one knockdown en route to a unanimous decision win over Pasqual Rouse to avenge one of his defeats. Angel showed excellent power and great defense in the win. Prior to that bout Torres looked extremely impressive in scoring two knockdowns en route to a unanimous decision win over veteran Luis Rivera and also looked good in beating Milton Marrero. In his last fight Angel showed awesome power in scoring a crushing first round KO over former New England amateur champion and young prospect Jose Ayala of Lowell, MA.
