On the undercard in Chicago, Dierdorff and Curry both protested this bout before and after the fact. The bout had been contracted for two minute rounds. Illinois Athletic Commission conducted the female bout for three minute rounds at their discretion instead of two minute rounds.The commission had not provided the fighters with previous notice of the intended change in time for each rounds until the fighters arrived in the ring. Tiring, both fighters held on and were both penalized for holding. The bout ended in a draw. Dierdorff, ranked fifth in the world among lightweights by BoxRec at the time, retired and moved from the Chicago area to Tennessee, where she had her second child a year later.
