Bruno Julie
(Louis Richard) Bruno Julie (born July 11, 1978) is a bantamweight boxer from Mauritius who medaled repeatedly in international tournaments and qualified for the 2008 Olympics. Julie became the first ever Olympic medalist from Mauritius, winning a bronze medal.
Amateur career
At the Commonwealth Games 2002 in Manchester he lost to K. Kanyanta 21:30 in the quarterfinals.
2006 he reached the final by defeating Mmoloki Nogeng and lost to Indian Akhil Kumar.
2007 he won bronze at the All-Africa Games in Algeria where he was upset by local hero and eventual winner Abdelhalim Ouradi.
At the 2007 World championships he beat Orzubek Shayimov but lost to Englishman Joe Murray.
He qualified for the Olympics in the second qualifier by defeating Emilian Polino even though he lost the final to Issa Samir.
