"Eddie Blunt, 219, New York Negro heavyweight and a 3-1 underdog in the betting, tonight upset Buddy Baer, 243, California, with a lopsided 10-round decision in their main event at Oakland Auditorium. Blunt, who was considered only an even money bet to last five rounds, kept tipping Baer off-balance with long lefts throughout the fight and threw stiff uppercuts in the clinches. In the 5th round he bruised Baer's right eye, which was closed by the end of the fight." -United Press
