"Carl (Bobo) Olson, using the same relentless body attack that carried him to the middleweight title 10 years ago, Monday night hammered out an easy 10-round decision over game but outclassed Jose Menno of Argentina. Although now 35 years old, Olson was in command throughout as he looped his patented left hook at the mid-section and alternated the attack with rights to the head. Bobo's biggest round came in the 8th when he blasted a right-left-right combination to the head of Menno who sagged into a sitting position on the middle rope near his corner. But the Argentine moved back in and resumed his hopeless attempts to get in a good punch." -United Press International
- Unofficial UPI scorecard - 7-1 Olson
- Attendance - 2,818
- Gate - $13,568
- Menno's purse: $2,698
- Olson's purse: $3,598. However, Olson had been experiencing tax problems for some time and the IRS took 25% of his purse as well as the State of California, that took $992. Also, two liens were applied to the purse by former associates. One for $800 and the other for $1,650. So it is unclear what Olson actually saw from this fight.
