Bout summary
Olson, known as a very good infighter, was outworked on the inside by Calhoun. Olson opted instead to sharp-shoot with his right hand from the outside against Calhoun. These tactics worked effectively for him in the 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 7th rounds. A left hook knocked Calhoun down for a five-count in the 7th round, though Calhoun's manager Frank Bachman argued that his man had slipped. Olson tired badly in the last two rounds, and did little punching. Calhoun was penalized two rounds in the bout for low blows.
