Carlos Palomino vs. Jose Palacios
Carlos Palomino 147 lbs beat Jose Palacios 147 lbs by KO at 1:21 in round 13 of 15
- Date: 1977-12-10
- Location: Olympic Auditorium, Los Angeles, California, USA
- Referee: John Thomas
"Carlos Palomino's right hand was possibly already damaged when he called his shot and used it to put away Jose Palacios at 39 seconds of the 13th round at the Olympic Auditorium Saturday night. Though Palomino was favored and was always in control, the action was steady from the opening gong until referee John Thomas counted out the No. 9 ranked challenger on his knees in the center of the ring. Palacios earned his purse more off of determination than style. He threw few combinations, generally ignored a body attack and Palomino soon discovered that Palacios could only punch effectively when he was lunging forward. Palomino was in no danger of losing a decision when he caught the exposed chin of the onrushing Palacios early in the 13th. Palacios wobble for a moment, then dropped to his knees and referee Thomas counted him out in that position." -Long beach Press-Telegram
- Attendance - 3,505
- Gate - $84,710
- Purses: Palomino - $100,000, Palacios - $10,000
- It was in the contract before this bout that the winner was obligated to defend against Ryu Sorimachi in Las Vegas on February 11th.
