"Zovek Barajas had to score a 10th round knockdown to earn a draw with Carlos Palomino Thursday night at the Olympic Auditorium. Barajas started slow and lost the first round, but immediately took command in the 2nd and piled up points steadily until the 7th. Sagging against the ropes and apparently ready to go down in the 7th, Palomino suddenly made a brilliant comeback. Palomino emerged with a slight edge in the 7th, took the 8th and 9th and was winning the 10th when the surprising knockdown blow - a short, crisp right to the chin caught him moving inside. Palomino dropped to one knee and was up instantly, but the round belonged to Barajas." -The L.A. Times
- Unofficial L.A. Times scorecard - 6-4 Barajas
- Unofficial Pasadena Star-News scorecard - 7-4 Palomino
