- Location: Crowne Plaza Hotel, Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA
- Referee: Gary Ritter
- Judge: Jerry Griffin
- Judge: Gerald Ritter
- Judge: David Sutherland
Notes
- Clark allegedly entered the ring wearing a football cup instead of a boxing foul protector. Carson hit him slightly below the belt line and because Clark wasn't wearing a proper cup he developed a swelling or a whelp on his groin. The commission at the time ruled it the same as if it was an accidental headbutt and called the fight a no contest. The rules state, however, that if a fighter is hit with an accidental low blow he has five minutes to recover and if he can not continue, the victory is awarded to the opponent.[1] After review, the no contest ruling was overturned, Jones was given the TKO victory and awarded the USBA Welterweight Title.[2]
