"California state middleweight champion, Charley Burley, battered challenger Jack Chase to the floor three times to score a TKO in the 12th round of their 15 round fight before 6,000 fans at the Civic Auditorium last night. Burley, the San Diego titleholder, led on points and put the Denver boxer down for counts of eight and nine with rights to the jaw before the final knockdown. It was Burley's third win over Chase, former state champion, who lost the crown at Hollywood last April." -United Press
