"Young Tony Pellone, a toughie from Downtown New York who wasn't given a chance, ended Charley Fusari's gaudy winning streak at 48 straight last night by roughing and mauling his way to a ten round decision in MSG. Pellone came from far back after Fusari piled up a towering edge throught the first eight rounds to catch the eye of one judge and Referee Arthur Donovan, although the other judge balloted for Fusari. It was a sizzler all the way, that had the 12,499 customers who contributed to a gross gate of $66,134, on their feet and roaring at the action. In the 6th, Pellone half-closed Charley's left eye and in the 8th he opened a small slice over Fusari's other eye. Charley countered this by bringing blood from Tony's mouth and nose with a slashing right in the 6th and banging open a cut under Pellone's left eye in the 10th." -Associated Press
