- This is Hosono's first fight outside his native Japan, and his third shot at a world title, losing to both Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym and Celestino Caballero respectively.
- Due to the headbutt which caused the stoppage in round 3, John suffered an almost vertical cut on his forehead and on his right temple.
