"Cleveland Williams, the 4th-ranked heavyweight, pounded young Sonny Banks, 199 1/2, of Detroit for five rounds Tuesday night and stopped him with a TKO at 2:59 of the 6th round of their scheduled 10 round heavyweight fight. Williams, 217, relentlessly stalked the Detroiter and knocked him down once each in the 4th and 5th rounds. A crowd of 9,000 saw the fight card and Williams' 49th knockout. He now has a 60-5-1 record. Banks, who never fought a round as an amateur, now has a record of 18-6." -Associated Press
