Notes
- "Clyde Gray of Toronto won the British Commonwealth welterweight boxing championship with a unanimous 15 round decision over Eddie Blay of Ghana. Gray was never in trouble as he commanded the fight from the opening bell. The new champion rocked Blay in just about every round after the 2nd, setting him up with right jabs then ripping lefts to the head. But he couldn't put Blay away." -Associated Press
- The Commonwealth welterweight title had been left vacant by the retirement of England's Ralph Charles.
