"In earlier preliminaries, Roger Leonard, the older brother of Sugar Ray Leonard, ran his record to 14-0 with an unimpressive 10 round split decision over former welterweight challenger Clyde Gray of Canada. Neither the 34 year old Gray nor the 26 year old Leonard did any real damage in the bout. Gray drew some blood from Leonard's left cheek in the 6th round but could not exploit it. Neither fighter was ever hurt seriously in the bout." -United Press International
