Clyde Gray beat Roy Johnson by TKO at 1:45 in round 8 of 10
- Date: 1976-11-14
- Location: The Hotel Toronto Ballroom, Toronto, Ontario, Canada
- Referee: Sammy Luftspring
"Clyde Gray of Toronto, the Canadian and Commonwealth welterweight champion, stopped Roy Johnson of Bermuda at 1:45 of the 8th round of a scheduled 10 round bout Sunday. A crunching right to the body early in the 8th round signalled the beginning of the end for Johnson. He bent over in pain and Gray opened up with several bone-crunching combinations and finally dropped Johnson with a right uppercut. Johnson beat the count but referee Sam Luftspring of Toronto halted the bout. Johnson's left eye was completely closed and he wobbled back to his corner." -Canadian Press
- Johnson was billed as being undefeated with a record of 16-0-2 and the Bermuda welterweight champion going into this fight.
