- The article stated that the cut suffered by Gray would sideline him for 4-6 weeks. However, Gray was back in the ring 24 days later.
"All-Canada Sports, in an effort to start small club shows in Toronto launched its first program with unbeaten local welterweight Clyde Gray featured on the card. Over eight rounds, Gray, 151, had his hands full in gaining a unanimous decision over Serge Prouix, 152, Montreal. Early in the bout, Gray opened a small cut over Prouix's left eye which bothered the Montreal fighter. In the 5th round Gray suffered a deep gash over his left eye which caused him to box and stay away from the two-fisted Prouix. At long-range, Gray has all the moves and class of a seasoned pro and the crowd gave the local boy a big hand for his superb boxing which kept Prouix at bay for the remainder of the fight. The pace and footwork set by Gray was too much for Prouix to contend with. There were no knockdowns." -Ring Magazine, August 1969 issue
