- The pair traded shots in the opening three minutes but it was Peynaud who landed the telling blows.
- Peynaud also looked to have done enough to win the second and third rounds, putting him in a seemingly unassailable lead, before Benn's late fightback.
- Despite the back-and-forth nature of the fight, referee Robert Williams awarded Benn the fight by a lopsided score of 57-54. The unusually wide scorecards soured one of the best fights of 2017.
