"Syrian-born Mustafa Hamsho, in his first fight since losing to middleweight champion Marvin Hagler, scored a majority decision over Curtis Parker of Philadelphia in their 10-round rematch Saturday. Both fighters remained energetic until the end - slugging, shoving and grabbing each other in the same raw style they used in their first match 13 months ago, when Hamsho won a split decision. Each fighter was penalized one point for butting. Hamsho in the 6th and Parker in the 8th. After the fight, Hamsho had a small cut under his left eye and Parker had a laceration above his left temple. Both fighters claimed their injuries were due to headbutts." -Associated Press
- Promoter Murad Muhammad claimed negotiations were underway to match Hamsho with No. 1 contender Tony Sibson of England. But nothing ever came of it.
Post-fight comments

- "After the Hagler fight, the TV people said I was blind. Some people said I had 200 stitches. Well I have only 50 stitches in my face." -Mustafa Hamsho
- "All you can say is Curtis Parker lost a tough, tough fight. This is just one guy who is very tough for Curtis." -Georgie Benton, Parker's trainer
