In a WBC eliminator bout, Ray 'The Rain Man' Austin scored a fourth round stoppage of DaVarryl Williamson. Austin, age 39, Cleveland, Ohio, now 28-4-4 with 18 KOs, was in early trouble in the first round against Williamson, age 41, Aurora, Colorado, now 26-6, 22 KOs, with Williamson landing combinations and power punches to great effect. The rest of the bout was closer, until Austin decked Williamson in the fourth. Williamson just beat the count, but the referee stopped it as he was out on his feet. Austin, the winner of this bout, was scheduled to fight Oleg Maskaev in a second WBC eliminator bout to determine the mandatory challenger for Vitali Klitschko in late 2010. Maskaev subsequently lost to Nagy Aguilera.
