"Danny Valdez, 126 1/2, was awarded a 5th round TKO over Ricardo Gonzalez, 127. Gonzalez suffered a cut left eye in the 4th round and when it worsened in the 5th, referee Jimmy Wilson, after consulting Dr. Robert Rocke, stopped it at 1:18. Although he was missing more than two months ago when he won a decision over Gonzalez, Valdez earned an edge in the first three rounds. In the 4th, however, Gonzalez turned aggressor and had a two point margin with dozens of hard, short blows. Then came the untimely end." -The L.A. Times
