Amateur career
In 2011, Tetley won a silver medal at the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games at The Royal Hall, Villa Marina, Douglas, Isle of Man. Tetley defeated Aryk Whalley of New Zealand (24-7) and Rhys Pagan of Scotland (19-12) before he lost to Daniel Lewis of Australia (24-27).
In June 2011, Tetley - representing Platinum ABC in Bradford - won a gold medal at the Great Britain Youth Championships. He defeated Hugh Gray of Scotland in the semi-finals (15-9) and then Rhys Pagan of Scotland in the final (17-9).
