Data Boxing started as a research project in 1967 by Julian E. Compton [1940-2010], humanities professor and boxing researcher. It is a comprehensive, statistical boxing game that was produced as a book that included boxers' cards, charts, rounds cards and random numbers. The heavyweights were evaluated on up to 155 variables. Data Boxing was featured in the December 1977 edition of Ring Magazine, Boxing Illustrated [May 1977 and December 1977], The People's Almanac [1978], Computer Sports Matchups [1981] and in the December 13th, 2006 issue of The Tallahassee Democrat. See Drdatabox, Events, Data Boxing PC and the discussion page associated with this article.
