"European welter champ Dave Green, 148 1/4, gave a competent display in defeating Canadian Lawrence Hafey, 146, the referee intervening in the 5th to save the Canadian from unnecessary punishment. Hafey was game enough, and threw a lot of punches, but he lacked the power and stamina that Dave produced. Green took it cooly, made every punch tell, and gradually wore down his plucky opponent.
