On the undercard on CES Boxing's Last Man Standing Boxing Card at Fox Theater, Foxwoods Resort Casino, middleweight David Bauza, of Hartford, Connecticut by way of Puerto Rico, went to 6-0, 3 kayos, with a hard fought unanimous decision over rough tough Jeremy Wood of Sidney, Ohio, who was better than his 0-2 record. Wood, who looked similar in appearance to Ivan Drago, the Russian fight character in the movie Rocky IV, was determined to go the distance to finish this bout on his feet and accomplished his objective. Bauza's jabs had Wood's eyes bruised and swollen early in the bout. The bout could have been stopped. Bauza came forward as the aggressor to win round one, landing crisp left-right head-head-head and head-body shots. Wood was swung wildly throughout, not landing any punches of consequence. Bauza switched to counter puncher, moving side to side in round two, but landing many left-right combinations. Wood tried to slug it out with Bauza, and landed a few lucky punches during headed exchanges, but paid a price for coming in as Bauza won round two with numerous head shots and overhand counter rights to the head. In the third and fourth, Bauza landed many damaging counter rights. Bauza was warned late in the bout for Elbowing. In the end, Wood hung tough, and missed with most punches. Bauza's combinations had a high accuracy ratio. Wood's legs were good and he kept moving, but he survived a torturous beating.
