Notes

  • Midway through round 1, Gates appears to hurt his right arm throwing a punch. After the round, he is seen grimacing in pain and discussing with his cornermen whether to continue the fight.
  • Gates down early in round 2 from a straight right hand to the head, followed by a hard body shot.
  • A few moments after the fight resumes, Gates decides to take a knee notwithstanding the fact that Lemieux is nowhere near him and is not throwing any punches. He stays down holding his right arm and his corner throws in the towel.
  • The crowd voiced its displeasure at what it considered a lack of effort on the part of Gates.
