"Ralph Hollett, the former Canadian middleweight champion, got back some of his dented pride Thursday night when he won a clear 10-round decision over David Love. Hollett, who was lucky to salvage a draw the last time the two met, fought 10 hard rounds to defeat Love. After a cautious first round, Hollett, who has never mastered the jab, fell prey to Love's effective left but fought back every time Love beat him to the punch. Hollett was in top shape and shrugged off Love's hardest shots. He worked the body through the early rounds and managed to loop some hard outside rights to the head. There were no knockdowns and neither fighter was in serious trouble." -Canadian Press
- Hollett was the former Canadian champion because he was stripped of his title in his last fight when he failed to make weight in his defense against Wayne Caplette.
Scorecards
- 53-47 Hollett
