Shortly after the Nov 1963 bout with Rouse, Bogany fell ill and in March 1965 was admitted to the hospital with stomach cancer. Some reports state his first bout with the cancer was in 1961. In May 1965 he appeared to be rallying from the illness, but he passed away on Aug 3, 1965. He was 28 years old.
