"Denny Moyer took another step up the welterweight ladder last night with a unanimous 10 round decision over veteran contender Vince Martinez. It was Moyer's 20th victory in as many professional fights, and by far his most impressive showing. Martinez gave Moyer one of the toughest battles of his career. Moyer started fast and took the first two rounds with effective jabbing and defensive work But Martinez then warmed up. He got a stiff left jab working and drew blood from Moyer's nose. Martinez had his last effective round in the 8th. He hurt Moyer with two solid rights and Moyer appeared tired at the end."
