  • From the May 23, 1927 NY Times: "Dexter Park, Brooklyn, forced to cancel its original inaugural boxing show last week because of the rain, will open its doors tonight if the weather is favorable, with a card featured by three 10-round encounters. Marty Silvers, Brownsville's leading featherweight, and Johnny Leonard, rugged Allentown, PA veteran, are matched in the stellar battle. Lew Kersch, east side featherweight, and Billy Kennedy, New Orleans lad, are paired in the 10-round semifinal."
