"Dick Tiger stopped flabby Rocky Rivero in 1:39 of the 6th round of a Garden 10-rounder Friday night. Tiger, in his first fight since he lost a disputed decision to top-ranking Joey archer at the Garden, hammered Rivero all over the ring for five rounds and then dropped him with a left hook to the jaw in the 6th. The blood smeared Argentine got on one knee at three, then arose groggily at seven. Referee Petey Della immediately halted the rout. Tiger had won every round." -Associated Press
- Harry Markson, the director of boxing at MSG, announced after this bout that he was attempting to make a double-header at the Garden for May 10th, 1965 featuring a return go between middleweight champ Joey Giardello and Tiger with the title on the line.
