"Willie Armstrong, the Glasgow southpaw, 175, was awarded a points decision over Dick Tiger, Nigeria, 167, after eight thrilling and sensational rounds. Early in the contest Tiger concentrated in landing his heaviest artillery, in which the Scot took three long counts, but in doing so the Nigerian lost his judgement in trying to end the bout by a KO, for Armstrong took advantage of his knowledge of long range boxing and scored convincingly to run out a narrow points winner." -Ring Magazine, October 1957 issue
