  • Date: 1924-09-11
  • Location: Olympia, Washington, USA
  • "Bercot put Johnson down in the second round and was awarded the referee's verdict when Johnson got up helpless and with his hands down. He took a count of two and staggered to his feet out of his head. As his hands were hanging at his side the referee stepped in and gave it to Bercot. Then the bell rang. The fans began to howl that the bell had saved Johnson so finally Bercot went back again to finish it out. He knocked Johnson cold for the count of ten in the sixth round." Everett Daily Herald
