At several different points, Cirillo has been seen as the acting boss of the Genovese Family, and is currently seen as a candidate for the position of Genovese family consigliere by law enforcement officials. Cirillo was released from prison in August 2008 after serving over three years of a 48 month sentence, having pleaded guilty to racketeering and racketeering conspiracy.
