"Don Jordan of Los Angeles, scored an upset split decision over Isaac Logart of Cuba, in a nationally televised 10 round fight Wednesday night that drew a hearty mixture of boos and hometown cheers for the winner. There were no knockdowns and Logart did what damage was done. Jordan suffered a bloody nose in the 1st round and a cut eyelid in the 3rd. Logart went in front with a powerful body attack and occasional left hooks to the face. Jordan appeared to tire in the 9th, but he landed a solid right to the head and a questionable blow to the body. Logart indicated it was a foul but the referee took no notice." -Associated Press

- "We want a rematch to erase this horrible decision. This injustice may rob us of a chance to get a shot at Virgil Akins' welterweight crown. It gives them a chance to duck Logart." -Eddie Mafuz, Logart's manager
