"Don Jordan today banked on his unanimous decision over Orlando Zulueta to win him a fight with Kenny Lane in Detroit on October 30. Jordan, from Los Angeles, got off the floor where Zulueta had put him with a crashing left-right combination in the 2nd round to go on and win the fight. The victory was especially sweet for Jordan who had lost a disputed decision to the Cuban a year ago in Los Angeles." -United Press
- Although Jordan won the fight Zulueta got the October 30th date with Kenny Lane as he was already signed to fight him. Jordan's management stated if they couldn't get the Lane bout they would engage Ramon Hernandez down in Tijuana. But nothing came of it.
