Don Jordan 140 lbs beat Timmie Jefferson 143 lbs by UD in round 10 of 10
- Date: 1956-06-07
- Location: Olympic Auditorium, Los Angeles, California, USA
- Referee: George Latka 96-91
- Judge: Frankie Van 96-89
- Judge: Charley Randolph 96-91
Jordan put on a disappointing performance against the inexperienced Jefferson, who was making his first appearance in a main event. Jefferson had been a last-minute substitute for Baby LeRoy. Jordan began the fight boxing cautiously, as Jefferson initiated the offense. Jefferson would lose a point in the 3rd round from a low blow. Jordan would then resort to dirty tactics, as he was penalized in the 5th for roughness, and again in the 9th for a late low blow. With the decision perhaps in doubt, Jordan took control of the bout in the 7th, when he began landing his jab, and following up with his right cross. He swept the final rounds, and had Jefferson holding on in the 10th round.
Attendance: "some 1,000"
