GEORGETOWN, Guyana - Allison was gunned down Thursday night as he left the Ricola Boxing Gym, where he trained young boxers in the capital of Georgetown. Police said unknown men in a white car fired automatic guns at Allison, 41.

Allison was a national champion in Guyana in the early 1980s. He won the New York state junior welterweight championship while living in the US in the late 1980s and 90s. He was deported to Guyana in 2002 for unspecified reasons, and revived the struggling gym in the capital.
