"Doug Jones, NY, ran his winning streak to 19 tonight by scoring a TKO over Von Clay of Philadelphia in 2:21 of the 10th round. The end came when Jones caught Clay with a right to the jaw, which held him motionless in the center of the MSG ring, and the Philadelphian was sent sprawling backwards to the canvas with a left to the head. Clay managed to get to his feet at the count of nine but referee Al Berl called a halt to the bout with Clay standing helpless in his own corner. There were no other knockdowns in the fight but both boxers were staggered on several occasions during the early rounds. Jones was on the receiving end of some well appointed combinations by Clay in the 3rd and 4th rounds. After that Clay seemed to tire and the steam left his punches." -Associated Press
