Valliant was an excellent boxer-puncher who had a stellar amateur career, winning the Cuban National Golden Gloves and the 1957 International Diamond Belt competition held Aug 1-3 in Seattle, WA, USA. He was managed by Bernard Barker--a CIA agent who was one of the Watergate defendants--but Valliant had a playboy lifestyle and became involved with drugs. After his boxing career he trained Carlos De Leon, but died at the age of 47, of a suicide in Miami.
