- Was present for this main event CBS television bout at the Concord Hotel. Davidson knocked Scypion down with a solid power shot in the first round for a nine count. Scypion beat the count, and somehow survived the round. Davidson's left jab was prominent in this point, leading to a solid points win. Scypion tried to come back and counter after the knockdown, and regained his composure, but he appeared to be somewhat hurt and lost some of his offensive stamina, remaining more in a defensive approach for the rest of the bout and therefore appeared to not have enough left to win after the initial knockdown. Davidson simply outworked and outscored him in winning all the rounds without having to take any chances at that point, as Scypion's punching output was minimal after the initial knockdown.
- Statement of Davidson's trainer after that bout "We had him (Scypion) in the first, we let him get away."
- Clean ten round bout refereed by Tony Perez, with no fouls and minimal holding.
