"Dwight Hawkins, Los Angeles, knocked out favored Eddie Gasporra, Huntington Park, at Hollywood Legion Stadium. Hawkins came out fighting and dropped Gasporra with a left hook for a three count when Gasporra rose groggily, he was tagged with a straight right and went down for the count of nine. Getting to his feet once more, Gasporra took one more punch and folded." -United Press International
